🌎 Culture Project β€” English Connects Worlds

English can be a tool for meeting people, accessing information and sharing your own experiences. Learning another language is not about replacing your identity; it can give you another way to present your community, interests and stories to the world.

🌍 And where you live...?

What would you like to tell an English speaker about where you live?

πŸ“– One Year of English

Read the text. Listen to the complete reading. Then answer the five questions.

One Year of English

At the beginning of the course, Lucas knew a few English words but felt nervous about speaking. Step by step, he learned to introduce himself, talk about his routine, describe places, ask questions and understand short texts. He also discovered different English-speaking cultures and compared them with life in his own community. Now Lucas can tell a simple story about the past and explain what he is going to do in the future. He still makes mistakes, and there are many words he does not know. However, he knows how to ask for help and keep a conversation going. For his final project, Lucas is preparing a presentation called β€œMy World in English.” He is going to introduce himself, show photos of places in his community, describe his interests and tell a short personal story. Lucas knows that finishing the course is not the end. It is a new beginning.
